The trips are remarkable not just because of the destinations or the activities, but because of the underlying vision of the company for sustainable, ecologically friendly travel.
G Adventures Beginnings
It all began in 1990 when a very inspired young man named Bruce Poon Tip returned from a backpacking tour of Asia, determined to share his vision of how to experience travel adventures in an authentic and sustainable manner.
By offering adventure-craving travelers an affordable small-group alternative to crowded resorts and cruises, Bruce (G Adventures CEO) changed the way people looked at their holiday time.
What started off as a one-man show in 1990 has since grown to become the world’s largest adventure travel company with more than 2,200 employees in 28 offices worldwide.

My Favorite Tours
From my first G Adventures trip in 2004 hiking in Italy to my most recent adventure just this past month on 2 different tours hiking in Greece (including Mount Olympus!) every tour has exceeded my expectations and – obviously – inspired me to return for more.
Below is a short description of some of the trips I’ve taken with G Adventures.
Click on the trip title or the blue highlighted link for a detailed itinerary and departure dates. Maybe one of them will be just right for you!
(If the trip I took is no longer available, I’ve linked to a trip with an updated but similar itinerary.)
NOTE: As of April 1, 2023 GAP no longer requires travelers to show proof of COVID vaccines & boosters or provide a Medical exemption to travel with them on any tour. That said, “All Vaccinated” tours are available.

Choquequirao To Machu Picchu Express –
This shorter trek is perfect if you’re looking for an adventure that’s as challenging as it is rewarding.
“We got back late yesterday evening from our four days of hiking, climbing to the ruins of Choquequirao, and camping. The highest altitude we reached was a bit above 12,000 feet. For most of the trek, the only people we saw were from our own group of 12 and our porters and guides. The ages of the group range from 32 to 65, with most in their 40s and 50s. We’re all a bit sore, but otherwise rightfully proud of ourselves.”

Here’s an excerpt from one of my letters home from this trip:
“Just completed the “Walk of the Gods” which is a 5 hour hike along the coast up in the mountains between Agerola (Bomerano) and ends up in Positano, which is where I am now, having a well-deserved birre and loll on the beach before catching the hydrofoil back to Amalfi. Ciao for now!”
